The best vacation
The best vacation I ever had I had been planning for the day I left for Hawaii for months and the day finally came. It actually came a lot quicker than I thought it would. I was so excited I could barely contain myself! When June 8th finally came around I Jumped out of bed at 8 o’clock that morning and got ready as fast as I could. My flight didn’t leave till noon that day but I Just couldn’t wait any longer! Even though we were going to Hawaii for my Mom’s work, its still a trip to Hawaii, and it was definitely one I will never forget. My grandma picked my Mom and I up from our house that day around 10:30 a. And dropped us off at the airport. I remember sitting at the gate waiting to board the plane to Salt Lake City, Utah feeling like I would soon be in paradise. We barely had any time to make it to our next plane in Salt Lake City, but we were practically starving to death so we stopped for some Chinese food. Every time we go to this airport we always stop through that same restaurant. Its really small and kind of like a fast food place but it’s so yummy and one of our favorites. So we ate our food and quickly made it to the next gate that would take us to Los Angels, California.
I anted nothing more than for this flight to be over with so our next flight would be to Honolulu, Hawaii! Our flight to L. A. Went by pretty quick actually. I sat by this adorable little boy on the plane, who looked to be about 8 or 9. He was Just so cute. He Just sat there quietly, drawing away. I couldn’t stand the thought that a 9 year old could be a better drawer than me, and he totally was. I can’t draw to save my life although I wish I could. We got off the plane in L. A. And I Just kept getting more and more excited. I felt like I was on a sugar rush or something, but I was extremely hyper.
The terminal in L. A. Airport was quite small actually. There were very few restaurants to choose from, and maybe one or two shops. I thought it was strange because in big airports like LAX you would think there would be more options. As we strolled down the walkway we came across a restaurant that had tons of fresh food! Of course, the big sign with the Bloody Mary on it caught my Moms eye. So we decided to eat there, and we got fresh guacamole, a salad with chopped strawberries, Aha Tuna, and chicken with an orange glaze on it. My Mom and I split it and it was plenty of food.
So as we were eating we legalized our phones and my laptops battery was going dead. We walked to our gate and charged our technology for as long as we had before our next flight. We were going to definitely need them for our next flight because it was 5 hours long! My mom decided it would be a good idea to rent a movie, Just in case they didn’t have little TV’s on the seat in front of you. She rented “Identity Thief”. I was worried about it because some of those movies can be kind of stupid but surprisingly it was hilarious! They ended up having TV’s on the plane and the movie they were playing was “Safe
Haven”. And of course I had to watch it because that is one of my all time favorite movies. I felt stupid because I was like the only one on the plane crying. It’s a very sad movie, but a very good one too. I remember now It Tell when ten Talent attendant salsa on ten Intercom ” evening ladies and gentlemen we are starting our decent into Honolulu, Hawaii. We will be on the ground in about 15 minutes. We hope everyone enjoyed there flight, and has safe travels in Hawaii, or wherever your travel might take you. ” I got these butterflies in my stomach.
I couldn’t wait to see the ocean, to have the sand in my feet and the wind in my hair. As soon as we got our luggage, we had to find our shuttle to the hotel. The shuttle driver was really nice and super hilarious. He kept dropping hints about going out with my mom the entire time. So it was a little awkward, but it was funny to sit back and watch. We finally made it to the Hale Aka hotel on Waking Beach. It was seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The lobby was filled with colorful flowers and palm trees taller than the building itself!
Overlooking the balcony in the lobby was this tree that looked like it should belong in the movie “The Lion King”. It was gorgeous and had long branches hanging from it with twinkle lights wrapped around the vines. We took up all of our stuff to our room, and walked on the streets of Waking, in search for a good place to eat. It seemed like we had Just been eating all day but we were on vacation so we ate everything in sight! There was this little Thai restaurant right around the corner from our hotel. It was perfect because my Mom and I both love Thai food.
I can’t even begin to explain how much better food tastes in Hawaii. Everything has so much more flavor. There is something about Hawaii that is spectacular, and Just remarkable from all the other states. Everything is so colorful and alive there. The people are friendly (of course I would be too if I lived in Hawaii). After we had finished eating we went straight back to the hotel because we were exhausted from traveling all day. Plus because of the time change, it was now 1 in the morning in South Dakota. So you could say we were a little tired!
I was so excited o see the ocean I could barely sleep. But I knew what tomorrow would hold. We woke up at about 4:30 a. M. , which is about 8:30 a. M. At home. The time change really kicked out butts the first few days. We Just lay around for a few hours and watched whatever we could find on TV. By 7:30 my mom took the first shower and I started contemplating my outfit for the day. Today we were going shopping. Hawaii has amazing shopping. Especially in the little market places where the locals sell all of their own stuff. As soon as we left the hotel room we headed down to the beach.
I couldn’t remember the last time I saw the ocean. I ran onto the sand and into the water, but I only went in far enough to where the water touched my ankles. I got this feeling that I couldn’t describe. I could smell the salt from the ocean and got chills up and down my arms. I knew all of my friends back home would be so Jealous and I couldn’t wait to upload a picture on Mainstream of me on the beach. After a long day of shopping we went back to the hotel, got our swimsuits on and headed down to the beach! I got so burnt after being in the sun for only and hour.
